I do!
Moving has to be one of my least favorite life experiences. "But Bronwen," you say, "it's such a great opportunity to clean everything out and purge the excess from your life.
Yeah, whatever. You still have to DO it.
I swear, this whole experience would have been a lot better if I could have just snapped my fingers and magically transported all of my belongings to Boston. If I could arrive with my underthings neatly folded and my clean and pressed clothes hanging in the closet in color order (yes I do this, get over it) I would be one happy girl. Now I'm not completely picky. I would also settle for an alternate solution in which I was simply rich enough to buy all new belongings upon my arrival and have them delivered and set up same day.
But last time I checked, I still live in the real world where the above just ain't gonna happen.
So I set about the sorting and packing of my (many) belongings. I swear, in the year it all spent stored under my house, it multiplied. Every box was a discovery of things I didn't know - or couldn't remember - I had. So we packed that up into a stunning 19 boxes, weighing a total of 490 lbs.
Oh but we weren't done. After that was delivered to Greyhound Express for shipping, I still had a bedroom to handle. I was dumb enough to think that would fit in four suitcases weighing under 50 lbs each. So we packed two more boxes, totaling another 19 and 34 lbs., respectively. Add to that the carryon weighing in at another 35 lbs., and you come up with a cool 780 lbs. of stuff that I am taking with me to Boston.
So my life weighs 780 lbs., and I don't own any furniture. How much do you think yours might weigh?
